Basil Design v1


For the past couple days I've been working on character design; specifically, the game's protagonist, Basil. Per my usual process for human characters, I started with basic face shape and expressions. Then, I move into skin tone tests, to determine what works best for the character. Next, I did three different hair designs, a short, medium, and long design. I chose to mess with some fun colors, because the game has a lot of fantasy elements, and it might add more of a whimsical element to Basil's look. Lastly, I chose some colors, mostly desaturated hues with a couple of exceptions, and did some outfit design. 

It's really great watching a character come to life like this, and it gets me really excited to keep designing characters and eventually, environments.
